Registration and Honors Information
It’s time again to start the registration process for next year. To help parents with the process, a registration page has been added to the school website. This page contains a calendar of registration events from January through April; copies of the course request cards for all grade levels, and the changes being made to the selection process for honors classes. Here is the link: http://draperpark.canyonsdistrict.org/registration.html

On the morning of January 28th, the four feeder elementary schools will be bussed to Draper Park Middle Schools for a first look at the middle school. These four elementary schools are Draper, Lone Peak, Oak Hollow and Willow Springs. On this day, fifth grade teachers from these schools will be given the course request cards to pass out and discuss with parents during Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences. During the week of February 22nd – 25th, the counselors from DPMS will visit the elementary schools and students will enter their course requests into the computer.
Honors Information
In Canyons School District, honors classes are offered in Language Arts and Math. Students are most successful in honors classes when they have higher prerequisite skills. To determine placement, DPMS will use multiple data points and have the ability to administer all of these assessments during the summer months to new students moving into the boundaries.
Students will request placement into honors classes by checking the honors Language Arts and/or Math box on the course request cards. DPMS counselors will then check your child’s academic scores using data points. A letter will be mailed home towards the end of July for all students being placed into honors classes. Here are the data points that will be used for honors placement.

Thank you for the privilege of working with your students and the DPMS community.
