Parking Lot - Drop off/Pick up Safety at Draper Park Middle School
Dear Parents and Patrons of Draper Park Middle School,
It is clear that traffic congestion in the parking lot and surrounding streets is significantly reduced with the cooperation of parents and students in following some basic rules. So, thank you in advance for helping make our process both safe and efficient
The south and west lots are available for student pick-up and drop-off. These lots have a left thru lane and also a right hand drop-off lane with hundreds of linear feet of curb available for student drop-off and pick-up. In order to maximize the available curb space, it is important that parents pull forward as far as possible along this curb and make room for other vehicles.
If traffic congestion is causing a back-up in the right hand lane and space is available along the curb in front of the car ahead of you, please feel free to use the thru lane to pull forward and find a space along the curb to safely drop off or pick up your child.
Another way to avoid congestion is to adjust your morning schedule slightly to arrive a little bit earlier to school. We have a wonderful breakfast available for students and also lots of open space for your child to relax and feel less rushed as they enter the classroom. If your schedule permits, an optimal time to drop off your child would be between 7:00-7:15am as the 7:15-7:30 window is often very busy. Choosing an earlier time to drop off your child will diffuse some of the traffic and help out immensely with congestion.
Here are some basic rules to follow:
We appreciate your help and cooperation with all matters related to our school, and particularly with those matters dealing with student safety!
Sincerely,
Draper Park Administration

Here are some basic rules to follow:
- Please drive slowly and be courteous
- Please watch for carefully for pedestrians
- Please pull up as far as possible along the curb when dropping off or picking up your student. Occasionally this will cause your child to walk a little bit further, but it will be helpful to everybody.

- Make sure your child uses a crosswalk in the event they are crossing a lane of traffic.
- Please be patient while in the parking lot and drop-off/pick-up areas and avoid rushed and unsafe maneuvers.
- Please do not drop off your student on a city street.
- Please avoid U-turns on 1300 East and other adjacent streets and please do not park your vehicle on 1300 East to pick up your student.
- Please honor signs and cones
- If your student has an older sibling, family member, or friend who will be dropping off or picking up, please share these procedure with them
We appreciate your help and cooperation with all matters related to our school, and particularly with those matters dealing with student safety!
Sincerely,
