Four DPMS Vikings' essays are finalists in 'Do the Write Thing"
Four of Utah’s top 20 finalists in the anti-violence "Do the Write Thing" essay contest are Draper Park Middle Vikings!
Kaylee Christensen, Trenton Newbry, and Ryan White (taught by Kimberly Carter), and Kathryn Smith (taught by Whitney Lee) were recently recognized at an awards luncheon. During the luncheon, Trenton and Kat learned they are Utah's finalists. They will attend the National Recognition Week in Washington, D.C., in July with a parent and their teachers.
The challenge offered middle school students the opportunity to examine the impact of youth violence on their lives, and to communicate in writing what they think should be done to change the culture of violence.
