Kindness Campaign Challenges Students to be Kind to Others
The Kindness Campaign is underway at Draper Park Middle. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. The campaign is focused on spreading kindness throughout the school. Each month students are taught two short lessons about a topic that is tied to Kindness. In August, counselors introduced the Kindness Campaign, then students were given the task of creating a kindness poster to hang in the halls to help remind everyone there at DPMS that we need to be aware of others and spread kindness everyday.
Students were given two lessons in November on gratitude. The first lesson showed a video that challenged students to write down things that they were grateful for in the categories of Person, Place and Things. The second lesson showed a video that proves if a person communicates their gratitude to others it makes them a happier person. Students then wrote a short thank you to someone that they are grateful to know. The videos can be found here.
The students' next lessons will be in January and we will focus on diversity. Let the Student Center know if you have any questions or suggestions.
