Draper Park Middle's MathCounts team will compete in the Canyons District competition on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
The results will be published in next month's newsletter.
MathCounts is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests.
The district competition on Wednesday will consist of four parts:
1. Students working individually on a test without a calculator, 2. Students working individually on a set of tests with the use of a calculator 3. Four students working as a team on a test with the use of a calculator, 4. A buzzer round for the top individuals (no calculator).
There will be 27 students from Draper Park Middle competing. The top eight students will then advance to compete in the regional competition held in February.
