DPMS Students Participate in PTA Day on the Hill
Draper Park Middle School's PTSA took 33 students along with parent chaperones to PTA Day at the Utah State Capitol on Feb. 22. "Upon arrival, we were addressed by Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, said Andrea Hagen, Draper Park's PTSA Legislative vice president. "He explained how the Utah government works and what his role is."
Following the students visit with the Lt. Gov. Cox, the students were given a tour of the Capitol. They had the opportunity to see members of the Senate and the House of Representative discussing this year's bills. State Sen. Orrin Hatch happened to address the House as the students walked through the House Chambers.
After the tour, students went to the State Room and met with Utah PGA golfer Tony Finau. A special proclamation was read in his honor. Following lunch in the Rotunda , the students returned to school. "It was a fun, educational day for our students, all thanks to the PTSA," Hagen said.
