Congratulations to DPMS 2018 Viking Scholars
The Viking Scholar program at Draper Park Middle School is designed to introduce students to the Sterling Scholar competition that they will work toward during their senior year of high school. Students compete in categories that mimic what students learn in school. Grades, citizenship, community service, future career goals involving a specific subject, as well as, a project and an interview are all used to determine which student is crowned Viking Scholar.
This year more than 70 students applied to be a Viking Scholar. A banquet will be held May 1 at 6 p.m. in the Media Center for this year's scholars. The winners will receive a small scholarship from Jordan Credit Union and a trophy.
"This, like many other programs at DPMS, showcases how talented and determined our students are," said Assistant Principal Randall Seltz.
